How to link voter card - Aadhar card?

The government has also given the rationale behind why it is necessary to link Aadhaar and Voter ID cards with each other. The Election Laws (Amendment) Act, 2021 has been enacted to link electoral roll data with Aadhaar number. Currently Law and Justice Minister Kiren Rijiju also raised this issue in the Rajya Sabha. The Election Commission of India has informed that without access to the Aadhaar database, the commission will link the Aadhaar number with the entry in the electoral roll as per the existing standard operating procedure prescribed by the Unique Identification Authority of India.

What would be the benefit of linking both cards?

To prevent fraudulent voting, the Election Commission has launched an initiative to link voter ID with Aadhaar card, so that cases of fraudulent voting can be checked during elections in the country. The government launched a nationwide campaign against this, which is still ongoing. With this help, the registration of the same person's name in more than one area will be identified. Suppose a voter is registered more than once in a constituency, this will also help in identifying him. This will help create a photo-based voter list, which will significantly reduce duplication.
