Parents want Gujarat government, school managements to come to an understanding at the earliest so that kids’ education does not suffer
It was a lazy Thursday morning for many parents and students in Ahmedabad as several private schools in Ahmedabad suspended online classes for an indefinite period, after a State government order said they should not collect fees from students until schools reopen. Though parents did not have to run around, waking up their kids and making sure they are parked in front of their laptop or mobile phone for online classes, they spent the day extremely worried. Fearing that schools’ move to go offline will affect their children’s future, parents want the Gujarat government and the school managements to resolve their grievances and come to an understanding so that education is not hampered.
Parents want the government to direct schools to reduce fees or collect it in a staggered manner so that families experiencing financial crunch due to lockdown are not affected. Nevertheless, several parents also feel that government’s ‘no fee’ decision is unfair as schools have switched to online mode of education and have been putting in effort to ensure that studies are not impacted.
Govt, schools both hold extremist views. Teachers put great effort in taking online classes. Middle path is where schools offer discount in fees. This would be win-win situation
